OSNexus-logo

Partners

Western Digital and OSNexus partner to enable new levels of IT agility, combining the massively scalable QuantaStor storage platform with high-density EBOF and JBOD platforms from Western Digital. Western Digital scale-up and scale-out storage deployments are fully integrated with the full line of Western Digital OpenFlex Data24, Ultrastar Data60, and Ultrastar Data102 while delivering secure, unified, and highly performant file, block, and object storage in a single platform that easily replaces traditional NAS, SAN, and object storage systems.

If you’re considering deploying an SDS solution and looking for simplicity, flexibility, and savings, ESG Lab suggests considering OSNEXUS.

Grid Technology

QuantaStor’s unique Storage Grid technology enables organizations to manage all their QuantaStor Storage Systems across sites and storage clusters within the platform’s unified distributed control-plane. This eliminates security issues that arise from having to manage disparate systems with different security capabilities and eliminates the complexity inherent in managing silos of storage in different locations. Within a QuantaStor storage grid one can deploy any number of QuantaStor storage clusters to deliver file, block, and/or object storage to meet the specific needs of your application workloads.

Scale-out Storage Cluster Configurator

QuantaStor scale-out storage clusters linearly scale performance with capacity by adding more media and/or storage nodes to the cluster. Scale-out clusters require a minimum of 4 nodes and they provide file, block and multi-tenant S3-compatible object storage. Scale-out clusters can be all-flash using Data24 systems or can be hybrid using a combination of flash media and Data60/Data102 systems. Scale-out systems are ideal for a broad spectrum of use cases from data lakes, backup & archive, openstack, AI/ML and HPC workloads. Hybrid scale-out clusters can grow to 100PB and beyond using the latest generation of Western Digital high-density enterprise media.

Scale-out clusters use a combination of erasure-coding and replica-based data distribution technology to enable high-availability and fault- tolerance. We have developed a design utility to help you estimate cluster performance and usable capacity for your workload. Please give it a try and contact us for assistance with developing a custom design for your workloads and organization.

Scale-up Storage Cluster Configurator

Western Digital QuantaStor scale-up storage clusters provide capacity up to 10PB per cluster with lower hardware requirements (two-nodes per cluster) than with our scale-out configurations. Scale-up configurations are ideal for a broad spectrum of NAS (NFS & SMB) use cases and they also provide SAN block storage (iSCSI/FC/NVMeoF) at the same. For high performance use cases like virtualization and databases we recommend scale-up clusters using one or more Data24 4200 systems directly connected to two QuantaStor servers via 100GbE. For capacity focused use cases we recommend using up to 6x Data102 or Data60 systems with at least 1% flash storage for small files and metadata offload.
