Take It Down Action Policy

Under the Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks Act ("TAKE IT DOWN Act"), you may be eligible to request that Western Digital Technologies, Inc. (“WD,” “we,” or “our”) remove nonconsensual intimate images of you that were shared without your consent. This may include images that were digitally created or altered using your likeness (i.e., “digital forgeries” or “deepfakes”).

It is WD’s policy to respond to notices of alleged distribution of nonconsensual intimate images. Responses may include removing or disabling access to material.

How to submit a request: If you believe that material or content residing on or accessible through WD’s websites or services includes nonconsensual intimate images of you, or someone you have legal authority to represent, you may submit a removal request to:

Your removal request should include the following:

  • Information reasonably sufficient to permit WD to contact you, such as your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
  • Identification of the specific content that you claim includes nonconsensual intimate images of you;
  • Identification of the material that is claimed to include nonconsensual intimate images and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit WD to locate the material, including, if applicable, the URL(s) of the link where such material may be found;
  • A statement by you that you have a good faith belief that the use of the images in the manner complained of is without your consent;
  • If reporting on behalf of another individual, please provide information regarding how you came to the knowledge that the identified individual did not consent to publication; and
  • A physical or electronic signature of the individual in the content or the person authorized to act on behalf of such individual.

Western Digital will not be a party to any dispute between any third parties (including you) over alleged nonconsensual intimate images and is not required to make an independent review as to the validity of any claim that is the subject of any notice of alleged nonconsensual intimate images. Please note that any emails that you send to us relating to claims of nonconsensual intimate images may be stored on servers located in the United States.
