At Western Digital, a responsible supply chain means transparency, accountability, and continuous improvements that lead to better working conditions and a more resilient supply chain.
Since joining the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) in 2007, Western Digital has actively invested in improving the social, environmental and ethical responsibility of our supply chains.
We expect our suppliers to invest equally and share Western Digital's commitment towards a more responsible supply chain by following Western Digital's Supplier Code of Conduct, which outlines our expectations for labor rights, health and safety, environmental protection, ethical business practices, trade compliance, and management systems.
In addition, suppliers are required to commit to Global Human Rights Policy and Responsible Minerals Policy, to help ensure that our products are sourced responsibly.
We routinely invite our suppliers to engage with us through Western Digital Responsible Supply Chain initiatives, including:
- Supplier performance reviews with discussion of supplier scorecard that includes compliance and sustainability measures
- Supplier Training and other collaborative activities and programs regarding emissions reduction and associated renewable energy acquisition and allocation, increased use of recycled content within procured parts, reduction of Per- and polyfluoroalkyl Alkyl Substances (PFAS), certification to the RBA Validated Assessment Program (VAP), compliance to the Responsible Minerals Initiative, etc.
- WDC Supplier feedback mechanism channeling concerns to the RBA
- We expect our suppliers to participate and disclose voluntarily to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and enhance the quality and scope of primary data
- Annual Global Citizenship Commitment letter
